As the leader of electric traction field and organizer of engineering development, Mr. Liu Youmei has successively been granted honors such as “National Mid-aged or Young Expert with Outstanding Contribution”, “Zhan Tianyou S&T Achievement Prize” and “National Excellent S&T Pursuer”, etc..

1.Founder of China Electric Locomotive Development
    As the main designer, Mr. Liu Youmei organizes the three-time significant technical improvement of the first series of electric locomotive (SS1) and sets the final design, as well as the second series (SS3) and wins the Second Prize of National S&T Progress.

  2. Organizer and Executor of Systematization, Figurization and Standardization of Domestic-made Electric Locomotive
    Mr. Liu organizes the research and development of the third series of electric locomotive (SS4, SS5, SS6 and SS6B types), among which SS4 locomotive wins the First Prize of National S&T Progress.

  3. Founder of “High Speed” and “AC Drive” Techniques
    As one of the focused S&T developing items during “Eighth Five Plan” period, electric locomotive is developed under the leadership of Mr. Liu Youmei. SS8 creates the high-speed passenger electric locomotive in China and also reaches “the highest speed of China railways” at 240km/h on high-speed complex test trunk line. Therefore, better traction power can be offered to railways, which will make China railways into international high-speed field, by which the Special Prize of S&T Progress of MoR is won. Mr. Liu also bears the task of creating the fourth series of EL, AC4000, the national key developing item within “Eighth Five Plan” period, which successfully breaks zero-record of traction drive techniques in China railways and symbolizes the entry of China electric locomotives into high S&T field.
