As power decentralized and AC drive EMU, "Zhongyuan
star" applies to middle and short trip of rapid passenger
transportation. It is developed and manufactured by Zhuzhou
Electric Locomotive Works, Sifang Rolling Stock Incorporated
Company and Zhouzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute
jointly. The first EMU was rolled out in October, 2001 and
at present, an EMU is distributed to Zhengzhou Railway Bureau
for performance on Zhengzhou to Wuhan line.
Main circuit: circuit structured in power unit, AC-DC-AC drive,
four quadrant impulse commutation, two-point voltage inverter,
1500V for middle DC voltage, current converting elements of
IGBT, control through direct torque and 1C4M control for traction
motor.
Auxiliary circuit: centralizing rectification and decentralizing
inversion and two-circuit DC 600V supply for power supply
system; two inverters installed on each car and supplied by
two-circuit DC 600V respectively, automatic switchover allowed
in case of failure in one circuit.
Control system: microcomputer communication network control
for multiple-unit operation, diagnosis
and display; employing FSK train bus and MVB; train bus redundancy
design and multiple operation for whole train; vehicle bus
multiple connected within the unit.
Brake system: DK-1 + F8 pneumatic-electric brake
Bogie : high flexible air spring, drum gear coupling driving,
axle disk and wheel disk brake device and Z double pull rod
traction gear.
Carbody: drum section, all steel welded, thin wall, cylindrical
shape, integral support steel structured and slim.

MC refers to motor car with driver's cab (first
class car);
TP refers to trailer car with pantograph and
transformer (second class car);
M refers to motor car with air compressor
(second class car);
T1' refers to trailer with transformer but
without pantograph (second class car with
business chamber);
T2' refers to trailer with transformer but
without pantograph (second class car with
conductor's seat);
M' refers to motor car without air compressor
(second class car);
T refers to trailer car without pantograph
or transformer (second class car).
£½ means usual coupler of 15#, and + means
compact coupler.
