SS4 freight electric locomotive   
 

 


Shaoshan4 (tpye SS4) electric locomotive is composed of two independent motor cars connected mutually, each of wich is a complete one. The main circuit adopted is of four-stage economic half contoled bridge with phase control voltage regulation. It is provided with performance of constant control of voltage or current, and resistance braking character of constant contant control of speed or excitation. The air braker used is DK-1 of electric control type.

Each car is equipped with a pair of 2-axle bogies. Traction motor is of nose suspension and vertical force transmission system consists of two-stage suspension, the secondary of which uses a rubbermetal lapped spring in order to have a better dynamic performance. In tractive effort transmission system, oblique pulling low-position traction levers are employed with highter adhesive property. High-strength low-alloy structural steel is widely used in the carbody construction.

The locomotive is featured by its high tractive and braking power, stable starting-up, quick acceleration, reliable operation, good working conditions in driver's cab, less air pollution and easy maintenance.
