The consortium of ZELW and SIEMENS won the purchase order of 168 metro cars (6 cars to make up one train, 28 trains in all) for Shanghai Metro Pear Line Phase 2 in 2002. This line has an overall length of 22km with 17 stations, all underground.

 

 

 

Train Formation

The train is made up of 6 cars, including two trailer cars (A car) with driver's cab and 4 motor cars (B car and C car) as following (Figure 1):

Connection between cars is realized through couplers with energy absorption ability.
